“To show our appreciation to our staff/physicians/volunteers/patient partners for all that they do for Patient Experience, 4 Patient Experience Week “Staff Appreciation” Fairs were held across all HPHA hospital sites: Clinton Public, Seaforth Community, St. Marys Memorial and Stratford General Hospital. These fairs had interactive stations set  up – Px Champion Award table,  Quality Improvements made to improve patient experience based on staff feedback, energy healer sessions, candi-gram table for co-workers to send bags of candy to fellow co-workers to show appreciation, photo booth to take fun pictures with props and popcorn/candy/snacks served to all!!  

It was a pleasure and so much fun to organize this event for our dedicated staff/physician/volunteers/patient partners! They ROCK at HPHA!”

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia celebrated Patient and Family Experience Week 2019 with several events and activities! 

  • Patient and Family Experience Rounds kicked off CHOP's Celebration of PFEx week with CHOP’s Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer who presented "We are the Patient Experience." The presentation highlighted how important employee/staff engagement and experience are in our work to improve the experience we provide to our patients and their families.
  • Later in the week, we displayed The ‘Garden of Gratitude’ mural which was painted by one of our Medical Interpreters that offered the opportunity to patients, family and staff to share a note about something that they are specifically thankful for or express gratitude to a CHOP staff member who made their day better.
  • Finally, as a thank you for their contribution to the CHOP Experience, we offered snacks throughout the CHOP campus and network to employees.

During the week we celebrate the Patient Experience with the following activities:

  • Clown to interact with our employees remembering them that we are the Patient Experience.
  • Stamps for the children
  • Labor and delivery Playlist C-Section, the mothers chosen their favorite songs.
  • Musicians in our receptions and some units for patients and employees
  • Cinema session in the Pediatric ICU
  • Massage for the mothers with their children in the NICU and also in our Geriatric Unit.

"This was our first Patient Experience Week celebration at McAllen Heart Hospital, and we had a lot of fun with different activities during the week.  We set up an interactive booth near the hospital cafeteria that included a fishbowl for staff and patients/guests to write words that describe an exceptional patient experience.  A token appreciation was given to each contributor.  Once all the words were collected, a word cloud was created for display.  We enjoyed listening to our leaders read Press Ganey positive comments at our Executive Huddles to showcase the superior quality care we deliver.  To demonstrate that we value each team member and all their good work, we had leaders distribute “Golden Tickets” to patients/families during rounds for acknowledgement and recognition of staff members for their good work.  Golden tickets were redeemed by staff members in Administration for a small token of appreciation all week.  We plan to continue activities throughout the year!"

"We collected words for a word cloud to describe exceptional patient experience, we shared Press Ganey comments at departmental huddles and at the morning safety huddles and we handed out Golden Tickets (the patients handed them out to their favorite and most special staff members!). The staff members with a Golden Ticket were able to redeem them in Administration for a goodie! It was a great week!"

“During Patient Experience Week, we wanted to allow our patients, visitors, and employees to be able to interact and let us know how they feel Doctors Hospital of Laredo best serves them. Our Quality team set out to ask patients to recognize staff for a job well done, their comments were read during our Manager’s meeting, and was posted at the specific nursing units. We also greeted guests with an information board, in our main lobby, to educate them on the Patient Experience, how we are scored, how we monitor the progress monthly, and how important they are to our success. Finally, we asked staff, visitors, and patients to fill out a comment card about how they would describe an exceptional patient experience at Doctors Hospital of Laredo. We took their comments, developed a word cloud, shared it with staff during shift huddles and with leadership, and posted it throughout the hospital to show how great care truly makes a difference in regards to the Patient Experience. Thank you to everyone who made this week a rewarding experience.”

“As part of Patient Experience week, we thanked our team members for the wonderful care they provide to our patients.  We did a “Wellbeing” basket giveaway drawing. 

 

The Patient Experience week basket winner is Stephani Criswell, LPN OB/GYN.

When asked “What does Patient experience mean to you?” Stephanie said, “As care givers if we can change one person’s life, everything we do is all worth it.”
