Announcing Reformatting of Patient Experience Conference 2020
In-person gathering to transition to virtual learning opportunity

With the rapid spread of coronavirus globally we are reminded of how essential our healthcare systems are, the critical role members of our community play and how fundamental the experience we provide remains.

After engaging healthcare experts and community members on the best path forward, we have decided not to convene in Orlando for Patient Experience Conference 2020. As a global (and virtual) community of practice committed to elevating the human experience in healthcare, we also believe the opportunity for connection, learning and expanding our conversation must be sustained.

For this reason, while we will not meet in person for PX2020, we will offer a multi-week virtual conference opportunity, starting April 27. Kicking off during Patient Experience Week, Virtual Patient Experience Conference 2020 (Virtual PX2020) will offer over 40 sessions from presenters around the globe and engage and involve our great supporters and exhibitors.

Those registered for the Orlando in-person event have multiple options:

  • Apply paid registration fees towards the Virtual PX2020 registration, with the balance either being refunded or applied towards another learning opportunity* from The Beryl Institute.
  • Apply paid registration fees towards another learning opportunity* from The Beryl Institute.
  • Receive a refund for paid registration fees

*Credits can be applied towards the following learning opportunities from The Beryl Institute:

Current registrants will receive an email from our conference team with details on how to select their preferred option and next steps with logistics for each.

Virtual PX2020 is available for $500 for members; $600 for non-members. Registration is per participant and includes all live sessions, access to the full archive of recorded sessions, participation in an exclusive online PX Connect Community for virtual networking and discussion and a conference T-shirt.

We are excited to offer over 50 virtual sessions. Exclusive access to presentations from organizations around the globe offered live 2-3 times per week over several months PLUS access to the library of all recorded sessions. You can view the full virtual program here.

We are also working with Keynote, Pre-Conference Workshop, and Pecha Kucha presenters to potentially transfer their offerings to a future Patient Experience Conference or other live event.

Roundtable Sessions and Patient Advocacy, Pediatric and Physician Gatherings will not be offered virtually as they were primarily intended to serve as networking events.

We are exploring alternatives to provide the CPXP Preparation Course originally scheduled for April 19. Those registered for the course will be contacted by March 18, 2020 to explore options to best support their CPXP preparation needs/timelines. If you have not heard from Deanna Frings, VP Learning & Professional Development by this time, please don't hesitate to reach out to her directly at

Yes, continuing education credits for sessions originally approved for the in-person Orlando event will transfer to Virtual PX2020 as follows:

  • Live Sessions: Patient Experience Continuing Education (PXE), Continuing Medical Education (CME), Other learners using AMA designated certificates (PAs. NPs. and Nurses), NAHQ and Social Work credits are available for approved sessions if participants attend LIVE sessions and complete a post-event CE survey within 30 days of the session.

  • Recorded Sessions: PXE credits will be awarded for approved sessions accessed via recordings following guidelines established by Patient Experience Institute.

Any refunds or credits for room nights at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek will be handled directly by the hotel. We encourage registrants to reach out to the hotel as soon as possible to cancel room reservations.

The Beryl Institute is unable to reimburse registrants for transportation or other travel-related expenses. We encourage you to contact your airline or other transportation provider to cancel reservations as soon as possible as many are offering special considerations towards credits or refunds in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Exhibitors with commitments to support the Orlando in-person event will have the opportunity to reallocate their investments to Virtual PX2020 or other sponsorship opportunities to support The Beryl Institute’s patient experience community.  A refund option will also be available if neither of these options is appropriate for the exhibitor.  Russell Senger, Director, Partnerships will be in contact with all exhibitors to review options and discuss next steps.
