The Patient and Family Advisors (PFA) Community serves as a gathering place for individuals focused on strengthening the voices of patients and families across the healthcare continuum. As both a place to connect with others and share and/or gather ideas, the community is primarily committed to provide a linkage to extensive leading edge work taking place today to drive stronger patient and family engagement, increase the focus on patient and family centeredness and positively involve patient voice.
The Patient and Family Advisors Community:
Serves as a hub and access point for related and relevant resources, tools and education related to the roles of patient and family advisors. This reinforces the community philosophy to serve as a connector of existing resources versus a primary creator of content
Provides a dynamic collaborative space for ongoing peer-to-peer dialogue, the sharing of ideas and proven practices and a place to turn to for support and guidance
Engages participants in the work of The Beryl Institute, as it looks to shape and influence the broader conversation on the patient experience in healthcare
The PFA Community works to provide two collections of resources. First, those found in the extensive work currently taking place in various organizations, associations and elsewhere committed to the needs, learning and development of patient and family advisors. This list of resources will continue to grow as new offerings are discovered or created in ensuring a rich and robust information library for patient and family advisors. This list is available to anyone in the healthcare marketplace.
Second, resources are available from The Beryl Institute’s Learning & Professional Development extensive offerings, some of which may only be accessible to members of the Institute and may include focused content in the following formats:
The PFA Community meets in-person at a gathering as part of the annual Patient Experience Conference. This is an opportunity to come together in person to connect, engage and learn from one another directly as well as build lasting connections to support you in your ongoing work. This session is an opportunity for PFAs at the conference to get to know one another and explore ways we can collaborate to produce a stronger patient voice in the improvement of the patient experience.
