Head of Marketing Programs – Diagnostic Imaging
In his role, James works with key customers and thought leaders to uncover and capture insights that help Philips innovation teams develop offerings that better solve problems for customers and communicate more effectively with the marketplace.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENT IN YOUR ROLE?
Over the past 18 months, we’ve interviewed literally hundreds of healthcare professionals focusing on the imaging space. We have pivoted our diagnostic imaging strategy to align with their priorities, working hard on meaningful innovations to help imaging teams deliver the value of a timely and confident diagnosis, reducing the burden on staff and the patient while eliminating costly waste.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU ARE CURRENTLY FACING?
In the past, technology providers and clinicians have generally pursued a “better, faster, sharper” innovation strategy to drive progress in imaging and other health tech areas. We’ve decided to take innovation down a different road—prioritizing precious innovation resources for the things that matter most in an era of value-based, patient-centered care.
WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON THE FUTURE OF PATIENT EXPERIENCE?
Philips is focused on improving imaging across the entire care pathway. By improving the patient experience through patient-centric innovations, we can help technologists acquire better images and reduce rescans. Also, by supporting staff with more intelligent and intuitive applications and interfaces, they can improve access to care, and enable better care for patients. And by better connecting information for radiologists, they can make more confident clinical decisions. Finally, by enabling administrators and executives with actionable, operational data, they can take a holistic approach to continual service improvement. It’s a virtuous cycle. For Philips, this end-to-end, systems approach is where we’re focusing our efforts.
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN WHEN NOT WORKING?
I enjoy time with my family, my 3 golden retrievers, cycling and serving my local Make-A-Wish chapter as a Board Member.
