Dr. Cohn is the only general surgeon/MBA in the US who speaks, consults, and teaches about hospital-physician relations. His passion is working with doctors and hospital leaders to build a culture of collaboration and improve the patient experience. Dr. Cohn is also a cancer survivor, who provides hope to people with whom he connects. He uses his gift of actively listening to physicians and translating their complaints into an action plan that helps hospital leaders and physicians to depersonalize differences in their background and training and to focus on improving care for their communities.
Dr. Cohn is on the teaching faculty of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Healthcare Roundtable, Estes Park Institute, The Governance Institute and New England College. He has taught the ACHE seminar "Practical Strategies for Engaging Physicians" for over 10 years. Using real-life stories from his work in 43 states, he demonstrates ways that collaboration enhances the community of practice. His four books, Better Communication for Better Care, Collaborate for Success, The Business of Healthcare, and Getting It Done, have sold over 5,000 copies.
