Brief Bio:

Kathy Torpie is a Registered New Zealand psychologist and long term multi trauma patient with experience at most levels of healthcare. As a professional healthcare speaker with global speaking experience, she offers a unique perspective of healthcare based on both personal and professional experience. It is a perspective that few other speakers can offer. She is a systems thinker with an inclusive approach to the patient experience as an experience involving multiple relationships throughout the healthcare organization and is expert in patient experience interactions across the continuum of care. Her personal and professional insights are backed by medical literature and organizational theory.


Relevant Credentials:

She authored of Losing Face, A Memoir of Lost Identity and Self Discovery, about her medical and personal journey of recovery following a major multi trauma accident, a chapter on patient safety issues in Learning from Patient Stories: A Book of Case Studies and an article in the Patient Experience Journal. She was a steering committee member for a national project to optimize the patient experience in New Zealand and a steering committee member for policy and advocacy with the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM).
