As a patient (MS),
caregiver, professional (RN), and leader, Danny is a change agent guiding organizations to address commitment, infrastructure, process and culture to improve the experience of patients and families. He is a member of the Society for Participatory Medicine, the Patient Adherence Work Group, HIMSS’ eConnecting with Consumers Committee, the federal Automate Blue Button Initiative, and a reviewer for PCORI (Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.) Danny also has a blog committed to discovering the magic levers for best health.

  

 

WHAT IS YOUR MOST SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENT IN YOUR ROLE?

Establishing working governance structures, prioritizing opportunities, leveraging technology and choreographing cultural change.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU ARE CURRENTLY FACING?

The biggest challenge is translating the multiple voices and approaches of the patient engagement stakeholders as well as elevating the experience impact to the same level as fiscal and safety/clinical quality.

WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON THE FUTURE OF PATIENT EXPERIENCE?

It will be a challenge to meld the patient, caregiver, professional and institutional perspectives within a constantly turbulent environment.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN WHEN NOT WORKING?

I am a family man: husband, father and grandfather. I play baritone saxophone in a jazz combo and big band.

WHY DID YOU JOIN THE BERYL INSTITUTE?

I am dedicated to increasing the sense of I’m dedicated to increasing the sense of balance patients, caregivers, and clinicians feel as they work together towards best health. The Beryl Institute seems a good fit.
