What is the difference in the Certificate in Patient Experience Leadership and Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP) designation?
The Certificate in Patient Experience Leadership is a learning-based certificate awarded at the completion of a defined set of coursework. It validates a participant has fulfilled the requirements and completed all 15 PX Body of Knowledge courses. Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP) designation, is offered via Patient Experience Institute. It is an exam-based accreditation that is earned by achieving a passing grade on the Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP) Exam. You must acquire 30 patient experience continuing education credits (PXEs) every 3 years to maintain your certification status. Access an overview of the CPXP certification process. How does the PX Body of Knowledge tie into CPXP Certification?
Completion of the PX Body of Knowledge courses provides the most comprehensive overview of content to support preparation for the patient experience certification exam offered by Patient Experience Institute (PXI), a sister organization of The Beryl Institute. Through the PXI, the courses have been accredited to offer Patient Experience Continuing Education Credits (PXEs). The PXEs earned can be applied towards certification/recertification as a patient experience professional. As patient experience has been identified as a top priority for healthcare leaders and there is a growing acknowledgement of patient experience as body of defined work requiring a special skill set to lead, having staff members certified as CPXPs shows a focused commitment to patient experience improvement. While the body of knowledge provides one of the most comprehensive reviews of patient experience knowledge available, completion of the associated courses is not required to take the CPXP exam, nor does completion of the courses (as with any preparation method) guarantee a passing score on the CPXP exam.
