This webinar will discuss what health literacy is, who is affected, and how it is interwoven into multiple aspects of the patient experience. This includes reducing re-admissions, reducing med errors after discharge, and improving patient satisfaction scores. A brief discussion will be held concerning ways to involve the healthcare organization in health literacy.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define health literacy
  • Identify 3 ways to use health literacy techniques to reduce readmissions in their organization
  • Describe how health literacy can be used to reduce at home medication errors
  • List at least 2 attributes of a health literate organization

Nursing contact hours have been applied for through the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
